Martial Arts - Karate & Kobudo

The Bayswater Martial Arts and Yoga Centre is the home of the Academy of Traditional Fighting Arts.

For the past 22 years the Academy of Traditional Fighting Arts has taught thousands of Western Australians the art of self-defence.  The Chief Instructor, or Kancho is Nenad Djurdjevic.

For comprehensive history of traditional fighting arts and information about the Academy please visit the dedicated website here.

The Academy teaches an unarmed art of self-defence that originates from Okinawa.  It will improve your health and fitness while learning.  Classes encompass a comprehensive range of skills including striking and kicking, grappling and throwing; skills that can be complemented with Kobudo training.  You will find the training dynamic and powerful whilst simultaneously balanced to ensure rounded development in mind, spirit and body.  Karate students also have the opportunity to attend intensive training courses and week long outdoor adventure retreats.

If you have ever wanted to learn how to use traditional martial arts weapons such as the Bo - a 6 foot hard wood staff, Nunchaku, and the Filipino Arnis system then the Academy can help.  You will learn the exciting moves and techniques of these and other very effective, traditional weapons!  Subject to availability, students may borrow equipment, however those who practice regularly are encouraged to purchase their own training weapons.
